Master Plan for Kuchchaweli Beach Tourism Zone

Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA)

Duration: October 20, 2019 – February 15, 2021

Project Overview

The Kuchchaweli Beach Tourism Zone, located on the Eastern Coast of Sri Lanka, emerged as a key tourism destination following the end of the civil conflict. Surrounded by prominent attractions such as Pigeon Island, Nilaveli Beach, Kanniya Hot Water Springs, and opportunities for whale and dolphin watching, the area holds significant potential for sustainable tourism development.

Recognizing the ecological sensitivity and strategic value of the site, the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority commissioned Canopus (Pvt) Ltd to prepare a comprehensive Tourism Master Plan to guide and regulate future development in the zone.
